Niseko Expecting a Snowy Christmas

Niseko is set to deliver a very welcome Christmas present, with snow forecast to arrive on December 25th and continue through to the end of the year. Temperatures are also expected to drop quite dramatically in the lead up to New Year – a change from the unseasonably mild weather that has been felt through the region so far this winter.

With all the talk around the village concerning the slower-than-usual start to the season, it is easy to forget that Niseko has already hit the 2 metre mark for cumulative snowfall! Conditions in Grand Hirafu today were excellent, with great visibility, a dusting of fresh snow overnight and good coverage on the groomed runs.

For those holding out for the classic Niseko powder that we all know and love – stay patient, it's on its way!

This is what we have in store for the rest of the week! This is at the base of the resort; higher elevations will be significantly colder, so layer up! Image: snowforecast.com
