Japan Drops Border Restrictions from 11 Oct

Japan will fully open to international tourism from 11 October 2022 with the daily passenger cap lifted, removal of package booking requirements and no pre-approved tourist visas for the applicable 68 countries.

This means you can now enjoy the best of Niseko this coming winter.

There are still some requirements to be met for entering Japan. For those that are fully vaccinated against covid-19 with a booster, you will need to prove your vaccination status. If you do not meet the fully vaccinated status, you are required to submit a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to departure to Japan.

Here are some links regarding the current requirements as of 11 Oct, 2022:

For those not vaccinated, pre-departure negative PCR test requirements: https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/cov...

Requirements for Children under 18

When a parent/guardian has a valid vaccination certificate: Children under 18 that are not vaccinated can enter Japan if their parent/guardian has a valid proof of vaccination that meets the current requirements (3 times vaccinated by approved vaccinations) and a parent/guardian will be with them while in Japan.

When a parent/guardian does NOT have a valid vaccination certificate: Children under 6 that are not vaccinated do not require a negative test when their parent/guardian has a valid negative PCR test within the 72 hour period prior to entering Japan. In this case, children that are 6 and above will require a negative test.

These sudden changes mean that there will be a rush on reservations for coming to Niseko and we suggest securing your stay and flights as early as possible.
