Japan Eases Travel Restrictions: All COVID-19 Border Control Measures To Be Lifted on 29 April

To lessen congestion at airports during the busy Golden Week holiday period, the government is lifting all border control measures related to COVID-19 earlier than planned.

Initially, the government had planned to end these measures on Monday 8 May, the same day that coronavirus will be downgraded to the status of common infectious diseases like the seasonal flu. However, this will now happen nationwide on Saturday 29 April - Just in time for the Golden Week holiday period.

As of Saturday, all international arrivals will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result taken within 72 hours of departure.
