Hokkaido Named No.1 "Best in Asia" Destination by Lonely Planet

Hokkaido earns Lonely Planet's vote for best travel destination in Asia, and it's not just because of the "perfect powder snow".

In naming Hokkaido as Asia's best, the reputable travel publication noted that the prefecture's incredible powder snow had "blinded visitors to the year-round charms of Japan's northernmost island: a wild, mountainous landscape that begs exploration on foot, bike or motorbike; alpine villages where you’ll stumble upon hidden onsen; and sumptuous seafood – including crab, sea urchin and scallops – pulled from rich, cold seas."

Lonely Planet author Simon Richmond discusses the choice in a short video below.
