Cherry Blossom Returns to Niseko

With the sun warming the slopes and a white-capped Mt Yotei shimmering in the distance, spring has arrived early in Niseko this year. The snow is receding faster than usual, and we can already feel the gentle shift from winter’s chill to the freshness of summer.

Whether you’re looking to stay active or simply want to unwind in the quiet beauty of the mountains, Ki Niseko offers the perfect base for your seasonal getaway. Here is what to expect for Spring 2026.

The cherry blossoms are currently at their peak. This year’s bloom arrived about two weeks earlier than average, meaning the Golden Week holidays will perfectly coincide with the trees in full flower.

For the most iconic view, we recommend a visit to Makkari Shrine. The path is lined with Ezoyama cherry trees, creating a stunning pink frame for Mt Yotei.

The mild weather is perfect for exploring the area by car. A few of our favourite local stops include:

  • Niseko View Plaza: Our local roadside station, perfect for picking up the first of the season’s fresh produce.
  • Kyogoku Fukidashi Park: Relax at an outdoor café by the crystal-clear spring water springs - it’s a truly rejuvenating spot.
  • Takahashi Dairy Farm: Famous for the drinking yoghurt we serve at An Dining. Enjoy their celebrated cheese tarts or a fresh ice cream with a panoramic mountain backdrop.

If you’re not quite ready to pack away the gear, Grand Hirafu is still open for spring skiing. There’s a unique charm to carving under a blue sky in lighter layers.

Hokkaido is a treasure trove of seasonal ingredients, and our Spring/Summer Dinner Course brings those flavours to your plate. During Golden Week, our menu at An Dining feature various hand-selected spring delicacies.

This summer, we are pleased to offer two distinct dinner courses - the Annupuri Course and the Yotei Course - alongside a new à la carte selection.

The perfect way to experience the best Niseko boutique hotel dining.

As the snow melts into the Shiribetsu River, the water levels rise, ushering in the thrilling spring rafting season. Unlike the gentle float of mid-summer, spring rafting offers white-water excitement for those seeking a bit more adrenaline.

Spring rafting runs until early June. Find out more here.

For those who prefer to stay among the branches, the NAC Adventure Park is one of Japan’s largest treetop courses. With 130 different elements across 9,265 square metres, it’s a fantastic day out for families and groups alike.
