At Ki Niseko Gallery, we are delighted to host a special exhibition from 29 April to 6 May 2026, with the support of the Kutchan Tourism Association.
The exhibition will showcase 12 award-winning works from the Kutchan Landscape Photo Contest 2025. These photographs were carefully selected from a total of 152 entries submitted by members of the local community.
The world we encounter in our everyday lives often goes unnoticed. Yet through the lens of a camera, a single captured moment can reveal something fleeting, meaningful, and deeply moving.
Each work has been recognised across a range of categories, offering a diverse collection of perspectives - from Kutchan’s changing seasons to the quiet rhythm of daily life, as well as historical and artistic interpretations of the town. Together, these pieces invite you to discover your own story within them.
Even familiar scenes can feel entirely new when seen through the eyes of someone who knows the place intimately. Through this exhibition, we hope you’ll uncover fresh perspectives and gain a deeper appreciation for the town of Kutchan.
Under the Kutchan Town Landscape Plan established in 2023, one of the key guiding principles is to cherish the land inherited from past generations, foster a sense of pride and attachment, and pass it on to future generations. The plan aims to cultivate a shared awareness of landscape and to nurture a rich landscape culture through the actions of each individual.
Through this exhibition, we hope to offer an opportunity for visitors to feel more connected to Kutchan’s approach to town planning, while sharing the town’s unique and cherished scenery with both local residents and those from further afield. Ultimately, it is intended to inspire a renewed appreciation and reflection on the meaning of “landscape.”

This project received a total of 152 submissions during its open call from July to the end of December 2025. The selected works were carefully chosen through votes by town officials and members of the local community, offering a renewed opportunity to appreciate the charm of Kutchan’s landscapes through the eyes of its residents.
Together with the Kutchan Tourism Association, we at Ki Niseko are delighted to share these perspectives with all who visit and connect with Kutchan and Niseko.
We invite you to enjoy each award-winning piece, along with the stories behind the moments captured through the lens.
