Experience the magic of springtime in Niseko

Niseko is known for its world-class skiing and snowboarding during the winter, but in spring, the snow melts away to unveil lush greenery and (if you're lucky) stunning cherry blossoms.

It's the perfect time to enjoy a range of outdoor activities, both on and off the slopes, like snowshoeing, white water rafting, and golf, and experience the vibrant local culture. Read on to discover why we love this beautiful season.

Have the slopes virtually to yourself!

Blue bird spring skiing

As spring arrives, many skiers and snowboarders assume that the season has come to a close. While it's true that the daily powder snowfall may have ceased, don't be fooled into thinking that it's time to hang up your gear just yet!

Thanks to over 10 meters of snowfall this season, the base is incredibly deep and is groomed daily, creating perfect spring skiing conditions.

What's more, the resort is practically empty, meaning you'll have moments where you can glide down the groomers virtually alone. Combine this with the increasing number of stunning bluebird days and no lift lines, and you have a winning combination for an unforgettable day on the mountain.

Grand Hirafu resort is set to remain open until Sunday 7 May, weather/ snow dependent.

Sample the delicious spring produce

Burrata Cheese with Marinated Beetroot Strawberry

Indulge in the delectable flavors of locally-sourced spring produce, such as the Marsh Marigold, Butterbur Sprouts and Alpine Leek. These plants thrive in Hokkaido in spring and are a must-have on the spring menus of Niseko's finest restaurants. Whether you prefer them raw or cooked, their taste is simply divine.

Strawberries are an unsung hero of spring produce in Japan. They are known to be much sweeter and juicier than the ones commonly found overseas. If you're looking for a must-try dish, we highly recommend the delightful mix of burrata cheese, marinated beetroot, and juicy strawberries pictured above from An Dining, located on Level 1 of Ki Niseko.
